Happy Friday! Thanks to the people over at Jarden Home Brands, maker of Ball Jars, I get to share their new Spring 2016 collection with you. Everything you see here is for photography and review purposes only. No additional skrilla’ was provided (dang). Now onto the shiny products accompanied by my deepest thoughts…

First up, the Wide Mouth Plastic Pour & Measure Cap. “Erin this is the coolest thing they sent you!” This super efficient and handy accessory doubles as a lid and measuring cup. The inside of the cap is lined with measurements (cups and tablespoons). I plan on picking up a bunch of these for dry goods food storage. The Pour & Measure Cap costs $3.99 when purchased independently or $5.99 for a cap and jar combination! What a steal.

Ladies and gentlemen I present to you the re-designed Ball Collection Elite Design Series Jam Jar, which in my opinion is kinda just a pretty, novelty, jam jar… I always get the biggest kick out of, yet never want to give away, the novelty collection jars. These little fruit-embossed jars come in half pints and are sold for $5.49.

Lids! Blue lids! Sticking with the color theme of the season, Ball has also released some shiny metallic blue regular and wide mouth bands and lids. What better way than with metallic color to “Spring up” your jarred creations. The blue lids and bands retail for $3.99 and $5.49.

Next up, the Super-Wide Mouth Half Gallon Jar. I shot the 1/2 gallon jar beside a quart jar for size comparison. Not meant for canning as the lid isn’t stable for sealing nor should it be put in contact with acidic foods and vinegars, this jar is designed for food storage or crafts… My first thought, “what are great place to brew some small batch kombuncha.” This jar retails for~ $9.99.

Lastly, blue jars for dayz… Every year Ball comes out with a new signature color. I myself personally don’t typically buy them, but now seeing these jars in the sunlight, I wish I would have picked up a pack of last years purple collection. These Collection Elite Color Series Jars come in regular mouth half pint, wide mouth pint, and wide mouth quart sizes. They’re sold in a case of four and retail from $7.99 to $9.99.

  1. I love remembering the warm weather and the abundance of late summer/fall through food in the dreary-doldrums of late winter when everything feels bleak and fragile. I also love how dewy and rosy my skin looks after canning all day in the squelching heat ????

  2. My favorite thing about canning is having yummy pickles on hand whenever I need them for gifts and treats. I would love the half gallon jar!

  3. My favorite thing about canning is that I get to do it with my kids. Several times throughout the summer, my daughters, sons in laws and kids come and we spend time picking, preparing and canning. We do jams and pickles and relishes and try new stuff all the time. It’s wonderful to spend time with everyone, plus, we know exactly what went into each jar.

  4. My favorite thing? The fact that I did it! What a feeling of accomplishment! I’m a newbie going on my third summer, and I love it! It helps to have a supportive husband that brings home boxes of veggies from the farm stand! Can’t wait!

  5. I got into canning when I lived in Utah and I love having delicious home made fruit spreads to eat in the winter! I’m pretty excited about the new sizes of these blue jars. They are my favorite color of all the colored jars ball has released. Thanks for the entry!

  6. My favorite thing about canning is that it lets me grow way more tomatoes than I can eat in a summer! It’s a way to keep having fun in the garden even when it’s snowing outside. 🙂 Thanks for the giveaway opportunity!

  7. Ooooh, tough call. Part of it is the joy of cracking open something I grew, I cooked, and I saved for later.

But really? I LOVE the look of a sparking line of new jam jars and their gleaming contents.

  8. I love the end result–how happy it makes others to receive the things I make. This year was delightful, giving away some cool jellies…and of course pickles. I am also the favorite to ask for contributions to charity bake sales…big jars of pickles are a hot commodity!
